During an inspection of projects at the Southern Delta University Campuses in Ozoro and Orerokpe, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori reaffirmed Delta State’s status as Nigeria’s education hub, highlighting its unique distinction of having four public universities. 

 

He also commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jacob Oboreh, for utilizing the university’s internally generated revenue (IGR) to enhance infrastructure noting that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the institution’s name change, which will allow the introduction of more courses, including Law.

 

Governor Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s commitment to education emphasizing its role in preventing youth involvement in crime. He also highlighted his administration’s support for university staff which has prevented their participation in national strikes.
