In a shocking political move, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made after a high-level closed door meeting at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday evening.

Confirming the defection, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the decision was made after “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development.”

Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP platform, was warmly received by senior APC officials. Political analysts are already describing the move as a strategic realignment with significant implications ahead of the 2027 general elections.
