President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently hosting a high-level closed-door meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors at the State House in Abuja, just hours before the party’s pivotal National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The gathering, viewed as a key political moment, is taking place inside the State House conference hall.

Leading the delegation of 24 governors is Imo State Governor and Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The meeting is designed to align party leadership ahead of the NEC session scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Among the early arrivals at Wednesday’s evening meeting were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, underscoring the urgency and importance of the discussions.

One of the main items on the agenda is the appointment of a new APC National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje last month. The leadership vacuum has sparked internal conversations about party unity, structure, and the 2027 political landscape.

The outcome of this closed-door session is expected to set the tone for Thursday’s NEC meeting, where key strategic decisions, leadership reorganization, and the future direction of the party will be formally addressed.

Sources close to the APC leadership suggest that consensus-building and internal alignment remain a top priority for President Tinubu, especially amid recent shifts in party dynamics and grassroots mobilization.
