Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed confidence in the ruling party, saying that opposition groups are nothing to worry about.
The former humanitarian affairs minister said that all members of the opposition parties have failed in post-2023 off-season governorship polls in Edo, Ondo, Kogi and Imo states.
Yilwadta, while speaking on Channels Television after he was announced as Chairman of the party, said that he would invest in legwork to bring more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party and other opposition parties to join the APC.
He said: “There is no opposition for now. Zero fears.
“Why is it that all the by-elections in the last two years were all won by the APC and in landslide victories, in most cases?
“My job is to unite the party, (and) to expand the party. We have 23 governors and we are still counting. My job is to bring in more. We would do legwork and bring in more.
“I’m a politician coming in with private sector experience, university experience, administrative experience, election processes experience and now with the political experience to gear the wheel of the party.”

Speaking over APC’s efforts in bringing former governor and f Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso into the ruling party, Yilwadta noted that the party’s doors are open for him.
He said: “When everybody’s time is due, it will manifest itself. Just give people more time and you will see, people, on their own, will begin to see the manifesto of the party, the performance of the government, and the tough decisions the president has taken.
“If you are a governor and you discover that, in the last month, the government’s revenue increased by over 40 per cent, and steadily, wouldn’t you want that government to be sustained?”
