Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed threats from Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, declaring that such warnings will not stop him from returning to the state.
Speaking on Thursday in Awka after visiting his alma mater, Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, Obi emphasized that he remains undeterred by political intimidation and remains focused on national development and educational support.
The former Anambra governor was responding to Governor Okpebholo’s warning that his safety couldn’t be guaranteed in Edo. But Obi remained unfazed, saying: “Threats don’t mean anything to me… I receive them every day. I will not be afraid.”
Obi also reiterated his commitment to philanthropy, stating, “If I have the opportunity to go to Benin and make donations again, trust me, I will.”
He criticized the governor’s remarks, adding: “What the governor should have done is to complement what I was doing in his state instead of threatening me. He should be sincerely grateful.”
During his visit to CKC, Obi presented a N50 million donation raised by himself and other alumni to aid the construction of staff quarters and administrative blocks.
“Forget about the threat, it’s a waste of time,” Obi concluded.
