The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to go head-to-head with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, declaring it would match the party “tactic for tactic.”
This declaration was made on Saturday, during a meeting of the National Political Consultative Group (North) in Abuja.
ADC spokesman, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nigerians are fed up with the Tinubu-led administration and are ready for a change.
“Every Nigerian who is hungry knows that he doesn’t want this to continue,” he said.
“Every Nigerian who is finding it difficult to pay his children’s school fees, whose salary has been reduced to just a piece of paper, knows that he needs an alternative and the only alternative today is the ADC.”
Abdullahi dismissed claims that the party lacks strength because it has no sitting governors. He insisted the ADC represents a movement backed by the Nigerian people and is resilient despite predictions of its collapse.
“When we started, they said it was dead on arrival. Now they are giving us a six-month lifespan,” he said.
Also speaking, Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark, lamented the state of Northern Nigeria, saying, “The North is bleeding profusely, and we are the only ones who can heal it.”
Former SGF Babachir Lawal added, “Our people… have mandated us to organize ourselves… through the ADC.”
He assured that the party would resist any manipulation in the 2027 polls: “Votes will count. Whatever malicious activity they APC throw at us, we will counter and defeat them.”
