Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered an immediate investigation into the reported involvement of the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug trafficker, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu.
The decision came after mounting public criticism and reports indicating that the Commissioner’s name featured in official paperwork that helped secure the suspect’s release.
This was confirmed in a statement issued Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
To dig into the matter, the Governor has constituted a special committee headed by Barrister Aminu Hussain, his Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters. Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota will serve as secretary of the panel.
The committee’s mandate is clear—get to the root of the incident and recommend necessary actions without delay.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep concern over the development, stating that his administration will not tolerate any conduct that undermines the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and other social problems in Kano.
