The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced plans for a motorcade welcome for the victorious Super Falcons along major roads of Abuja.

This event aims to provide residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surroundings a rare opportunity to view the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy, the most coveted accolade in African women’s football, upon the Super Falcons’ return to Nigeria on Monday.

The triumphant team is expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at noon on Monday.

NFF disclosed that arrangements were being made for the players to travel to the Presidential Villa in an open-top bus, passing through populated areas so that onlookers can see the iconic trophy.

“We are arranging for a trophy parade with the players and their coaches in an open-top bus, which will travel along Airport Road, through Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market, all the way to the Presidential Villa.

“This will allow a significant number of people in those areas to witness the Women’s AFCON trophy,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

A statement released to journalists on Sunday evening by NFF’s Director of Communication, Dr. Ademola Olajire, also stated that President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to host the team Monday afternoon at the Presidential Villa.

The Super Falcons secured a historic 10th Women’s AFCON title on Saturday night, coming from 2 goals deficit to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 at Rabat’s Stade Olympique.
