Former Senate President, David Mark, ex-Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, former Minister of Youth Development, Bolaji Abdullahi, and retired General Tunde Ogbeha have assumed key leadership roles in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The political bigwigs were inaugurated on Monday night in Abuja as members of the party’s newly constituted National Executive Committee (NEC), signalling a major shake-up in the party’s leadership structure.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, marked the official handover from the outgoing executive led by Ralph Nwosu.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at the event to ensure compliance with electoral regulations and proper transition protocols.
All newly sworn-in members were physically present during the brief but symbolic ceremony. The inauguration followed an NEC meeting that laid out the roadmap for the party’s new leadership direction.
With the new NEC taking immediate charge, the ADC says it is poised to reposition itself within Nigeria’s political space as part of a wider opposition coalition ahead of upcoming elections.
Naija News understands that the major aim of the coalition is to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the incumbent President, Bola Tinubu, in the 2027 elections.
