Nigeria’s D’Tigress claimed a gritty 60-55 win over a determined Mozambique team in their second Group D match at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket on Monday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Nigerian ladies had bounced off their campaign with a commanding 92–45 win over Rwanda in the opening game.

The victory secures D’Tigress a spot in the quarterfinals and stretches their unbeaten streak in the competition to 26 games.

Playing at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, D’Tigress rallied from a 28–24 halftime deficit with a strong second-half showing.

They narrowly won the third quarter 18–15 and sealed the win with another 18–12 run in the fourth.

Murjanatu Musa led all scorers with 19 points, while Mozambique’s top performer, Leia Dongue, finished with 11.

Despite struggling from beyond the arc—hitting just 13.04% of their three-pointers compared to Mozambique’s 20%—D’Tigress showed their trademark grit, turning the tide with a key 12-0 run in the third quarter.

The win places D’Tigress at the top of Group D and earns them direct qualification to the quarterfinals.

D’Tigress are aiming for a fifth consecutive AfroBasket crown and their seventh overall, trailing only Senegal, who have won the tournament 11 times.
