In a heartwarming show of solidarity, six Super Eagles players have donated a combined N24 million to the Super Falcons in honor of their triumphant victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The contributors include team captain William Troost-Ekong, along with Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, and Joe Aribo.
The Super Falcons delivered a sensational performance in the final, staging a dramatic comeback to overturn a two-goal deficit and defeat host nation Morocco. The win marked their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Led by head coach Justine Madugu, the champions returned to Nigeria on Monday to a wave of praise and recognition.
In addition to the generous donation from their male counterparts, the Falcons have also received cash rewards from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum in celebration of their remarkable achievement.
