British Foreign Secretary David Lammy declared that the conditions the UK government set on Israel over recognition of Palestinian statehood are an attempt to “affect the situation on the ground” in Gaza.
“I sincerely hope that we see a dramatic improvement in the suffering, that we see a commitment to a ceasefire, and we see a commitment to a diplomatic process,” Lammy said.
“Such that we do not get a pause in relation to that ceasefire, but we get an enduring peace, and it’s for us to assess those conditions as we get to next month.”
