The South East Renewed Hope Agenda, has revealed its reasons for donating a sum of N200 million to purchase All Progressives Congress presidential nomination form for President Bola Tinubu.
The political support group stated that the fund was voluntarily released to support campaign logistics for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The announcement which was made over the weekend in Owerri, Imo State by the group’s National Coordinator, Belusochukwu Enwere, generated mixed reactions from the public.
Some Nigerians believes that the fund was too much to be released to support President Tinubu when average Nigerians are going through economic hardship.
Reacting to the backlash during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, Enwere, SERHA’s National Coordinator, said that the money was released, due to President Tinubu’s contribution for the development of the region.
He added that, unlike previous administrations, Tinubu has initiated many projects to South East State.
Enwere said: “I want to let us know that many years in the past, South East has been rejected and marginalized, and that was the bone of contention, that we business individuals, youths and professionals said that President Bola Tinubu has remembered South East.

“He has done a lot for us, he has taken the bull by the horn, initiating projects for our region, for instance, the South East Development Commission, the N150 trillion investment for the development of our region, massive road projects, including the $3 billion railway project to reconnect South East to the national.
“It is also important to note that since after civil war, many presidents have came, but it is only Tinubu that remember this region.
“This is why we are going to give him 200 million naira to support his re-election bid.”
When asked if the donation represented the entire region, or it was just sentimentally gave out by some APC’s supporters, Enwere noted that contrary to public beliefs that former presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter dominated the region, he insisted that South East people have learnt their lessons.
The group national coordinator noted that the region no longer put its eggs in one basket.
He said: “We all know that South East has never produced a president, and to get this done, we must join our brothers, we must harmonize with other regions.
“Tinubu has started well, this is a man that has the interest of the youths in his mind.”
