President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), following the retirement of the current CG, Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will clock 60 years on August 13, 2025.
The announcement was made on Wednesday,by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), retired Major General Abdulmalik Jubril.
According to Jubril, Olumode’s appointment is a reflection of his experience, professionalism, and commitment to service.
“He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and risen to the rank of Deputy Controller-General in the Human Resource Directorate,” he said.
Jubril emphasised that Olumode successfully passed all required in-service training and command courses, both at home and abroad.
“He has attended and passed all mandatory in-service training, command courses, and other development programs within and outside the country,” he stated.
“He is a seasoned officer with a deep understanding of the service. His knowledge, discipline, and integrity will greatly enhance the operational efficiency of the Federal Fire Service,” he added.
The new Controller-General is also affiliated with several professional bodies. “Olumode is a member and fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management,” Jubril noted.
Abdulganiyu Jaji, the outgoing CG, will formally step down on August 13. “We commend his service and leadership over the years and wish him well in his retirement,” the CDCFIB secretary said.
