Chelsea Sign Nigerian-Born Midfielder, Chukwuemeka

Chelsea have reportedly lowered their valuation of their midfielder, Carney Chukwuemeka, to €25 million, paving the way for a potential permanent switch to Borussia Dortmund.

Carney Chukwuemeka, a 21-year-old midfielder who impressed during a loan spell at Dortmund in the second half of last season, is now on the radar of the Bundesliga outfit, with talks gaining momentum.

According to Bild via Ruhr24, the Blues have dropped their initial €40 million asking price to facilitate the deal.

Chukwuemeka made 17 appearances for Dortmund during his short stint, and his performances have clearly left a mark. The player is reportedly eager to return to Signal Iduna Park, a sentiment that is strengthening Dortmund’s hand at the table.

The England youth international, who began his development at Northampton Town before moving to Aston Villa’s academy, broke into Villa’s senior squad in 2021.

Chelsea secured his signature in 2022, but with limited playing time at Stamford Bridge, a return to Germany now looks increasingly likely.

Dortmund are said to be “seriously weighing up” the move, particularly now that Chelsea have shown willingness to negotiate.

Should the deal go through, it would mark a significant opportunity for Chukwuemeka to reignite his career in a league renowned for nurturing young talent.
