As the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season approaches, transfer activity is heating up across the country.
Among the key transfer moves is the departure of Ikorodu City forward Alade Solomon, who has signed for Egyptian Premier League outfit Ghazl El Mahalla SC.
The 22-year-old striker had a modest but promising debut season with Ikorodu City, scoring two goals in 18 appearances.
His move marks another significant overseas transfer for the Lagos-based club following Waliu Ojetoye’s switch to Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem.
Solomon’s departure leaves Ikorodu City with a gap to fill in attack. The club’s technical team is expected to act swiftly to reinforce the squad before the new season kicks off on Friday, August 22, with a challenging opener against Kwara United.
Meanwhile, NPFL newcomer Kun Khalifat FC has made a strategic backroom addition by appointing seasoned professional Ifeanyi Anaemena as their new sporting director.
The Owerri-based club, fresh off their promotion, is banking on Anaemena’s wealth of experience to guide their debut campaign in Nigeria’s top flight.
Anaemena played a pivotal role in Remo Stars’ historic NPFL title win last season before hanging up his boots. His career also spanned stints with Giwa FC, Enyimba, and Rivers United, as well as a spell abroad with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nahda.
Another newly promoted NPFL club, Barau FC have completed the double signing of league veterans Jimmy Ambrose and Emmanuel Okoko Jr.
Ambrose arrives from Plateau United, while Okoko makes the switch from Katsina United. The duo bring with them a combined 200 NPFL appearances.
Naija News reports that Barau FC recently named former Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso as their technical adviser. They will face a baptism of fire on opening day as they square up against eight-time champions Enyimba.
