Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, has revealed her ongoing struggle with fibroids, saying she might need to undergo a third surgery to treat the condition.
The producer of To Kill A Monkey opened up about her condition in the comment section of an Instagram post shared by actress Ini Dima-Okojie.
While reflecting on her journey with fibroids, Ini wrote: “We NEED a cure for fibroids. In the meantime, I hope every woman dealing with it is hanging in there. Just know that you are not alone”.

In her reply, Adetiba disclosed that she has had two surgeries so far, but both were unsuccessful, and she might need to undergo another one.
“I’ve had surgery twice for this already, and it now seems I might need a third. Sigh,” she wrote.
Adetiba initially opened up about her battle with fibroids in 2015, calling it a “severe case” that had once landed her in the emergency room.
Even with her health issues, she has continued to thrive in Nollywood, spearheading major productions like The Wedding Party, King of Boys, and most recently, To Kill A Monkey.
Prior to establishing herself in the film industry, Adetiba obtained a Law degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and went on to study at the New York Film Academy. Her career began in radio, later expanding into television, where she also hosted Maltina Dance All, before eventually transitioning into directing.
She got married to Ghanaian music producer Oscar Heman-Ackah in April 2022.
