President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, for their historic victory at the AfroBasket 2024, where they clinched their fifth consecutive title and seventh overall.

In a post shared via his official X handle on Sunday, the President lauded the team for their outstanding performance, applauding their consistency, resilience, and the pride they have brought to the country.

D’Tigress defeated Mali 78-64 in the final to extend their unbeaten run at the tournament to 29 games under head coach Rena Wakama.

With the victory, Nigeria has also secured qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Germany.
