Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has initiated a 20km storm drainage project to address severe flooding in Osubi, Ugolo-Okpe, Okuokoko, and surrounding areas. The drainage system includes underground and trapezoidal designs to effectively manage stormwater and mitigate seasonal flooding that has previously disrupted lives and hindered growth

During an inspection of the project, Mr Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine), announced that the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2025. Mr. Aniagwu also commended the contractor’s efforts while urging faster completion to minimize disruptions.

Other projects inspected by the Commissioner include; Esezi Road in Orerokpe and Orerokpe - Okuloho - Oviri-Okpe - Aragba-Okpe Road in Okpe Local Government Area. Additionally he inspected remedial works on the Old Abraka-Eku Road where he directed the contractor to ensure its completion within three weeks.
