In a bid to bolster security and enhance emergency response, the Oshimili South Local Government Council has launched a dedicated security short code, 7745.
The initiative, unveiled by Chairman Hon. Dr. Kelvin Obi, aims to provide residents with a swift and efficient means of reporting security concerns.
During a security meeting with the Committee on Peace and Security in Asaba, Dr. Obi Kelvin emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining peace and security.
He urged residents to utilize the 7745 short code whenever they encounter security emergencies, assuring that prompt responses would be dispatched to address such incidents.
This development forms part of a broader strategy to combat insecurity within Oshimili South.
According to Dr. Kelvin Obi, the council is also investing in additional security infrastructure, including: Procurement of vehicles for security operatives to enhance mobility and response times, Installation of CCTV cameras across strategic locations in Oshimili South to improve surveillance and monitoring.
