Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has revealed that her performance as “Inspector Babalola” in the newly released Netflix crime series To Kill a Monkey has made such an impression that even her children have adopted the character name for her.

The 58-year-old shared the lighthearted revelation via Instagram on Tuesday, alongside a photo of herself fully in character.

“You know you have a hit show when even your kids (wey normally no too send like dat) begin to call you by your character name,” she wrote.
“Called my daughter the other day, and the first thing she said was ‘Innnnspector Babalola’ (in that way, Nigerians do when they’re hailing you).”

She went on to applaud the show’s creator and director, Kemi Adetiba, adding:

“@kemiadetiba …take your flowers Mama…take them all!!🙌🏽♥.”

Ireti ended her post with a friendly nudge to her followers:

To Kill a Monkey premiered on Netflix on July 18 and marks Kemi Adetiba’s highly anticipated return to the director’s chair following the success of her King of Boys franchise.

The crime thriller follows the story of Efemini (played by William Benson), a man who gets drawn into the dark world of cybercrime after reconnecting with an old friend, played by Bucci Franklin.

The series features a stellar cast, including Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, Chidi Mokeme, Lilian Afegbai, and Sunshine Rosman.

Ireti Doyle stars as Inspector Babalola, a determined law enforcement officer unraveling the web of crime central to the show’s intense plotline.

The 8-episode series has already garnered critical praise for its compelling storyline, strong performances, and timely exploration of cybercrime, friendship, and survival in contemporary Nigeria.
