Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, has criticised Wema Bank for allegedly using his popular “first-class giveaway” idea in a recent advertisement without his approval.
The singer had launched the initiative to reward graduates with first-class degrees by gifting them cash prizes in recognition of their academic achievement.
Soon after, the bank released an advert that appeared to mimic the trend, sparking a strong reaction from the artist.

The ad read: “AG Baby no send you first class gift? No worries, ALAT’s got you covered. Enjoy up to 70% off your favorite brands this weekend via eVouchers on the ALAT app – it’s no crime to not have a first-class degree.”
Responding on Tuesday, Adekunle Gold questioned the move and signaled that legal action may follow.
“Dear @wemabank @alat_ng, when did this start? You’ll be hearing from my people,” he wrote.
