Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has said that it is always a difficult task when playing Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
Ajibade noted that the Nigeria’s women struggled with nerves and confusion during their tense semi-final clash against South the Africa’s side.
Recall that the nine-time champions of Women’s Africa Cup of Nations narrowly grab a dramatic 2–1 victory and reach final of the ongoing WAFCON in Morocco on Tuesday.
Speaking in post-match press conference after being named Player of the Match for the third time in the competition, Ajibade admitted that the team went through a moment of anxiety when the game was tied at 1–1 in the second half.
She also reflected on Nigeria’s missed chances, particularly in the first half, acknowledging that the Falcons could have been more clinical in front of goal.
Ajibade said: “We know it was going to be a difficult game because every game in this tournament has been tough. We know South Africa quite well, they are a very good side.

“We have played each other in different competitions, Olympics qualifiers, WAFCON, but we were ready for whatever is going to come our way, physically, and tactically. We were always ready for a game like this.
“When we face challenges, that is when you see the best of Super Falcons. It was difficult, but we managed to get the win.
“We had some opportunities but didn’t put them away. But in the end, what matters most is the final score, and we got the result we needed.”
The Super Falcons will face host Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday.
