The Federal government has dispatched armoured personnel carriers to strengthen security and combat banditry in Kebbi State.

The state governor, Nasir Idris made the announcement while inspecting the vehicles at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

The governor noted that Kebbi has been under constant attacks from bandits crossing over from Zamfara and Niger States, launching raids and retreating to their hideouts. He said the deployment of the APCs would help deter further attacks and protect lives and property.

“I thank President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and other security heads for this timely response to protect the people of Kebbi,” Governor Idris said.

Governor Idris stated that the government will continue to support the families of the fallen heroes in their fight against banditry.

Also speaking, the Commander of the 223 Light Tank Battalion in Zuru, Lieutenant Colonel M. S. Saleh, presented the combat equipment to the governor and appreciated both federal and state governments for their cooperation and support.

He urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible intelligence to help identify terrorist hideouts and prevent them from establishing a foothold in local communities.
