The Super Falcons of Nigeria have landed in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja following their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team, led by coach Justin Madugu, defeated host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final on Saturday to clinch a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

The Nigerian ladies had a trophy parade lined up for today as well a dinner with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Super Falcons arrived on Monday afternoon and were received on arrival by Governors Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Uba Sani (Kaduna), and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara) as well as other top government officials.

Members of the public also came out in large numbers to welcome the contingent from Morocco.

Nigeria had a fantastic outing in Morocco, coming out successful with the Mission X campaign of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The team began their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Tunisia, then beat Botswana 1-0 before a goalless draw with Algeria in the group stage.

The Nigerian ladies went on to thrash Zambia 5-0 in the quarterfinals, and won 2-1 against defending champions South Africa in the semis, before completing an incredible 3-2 comeback against the hosts in the final.
