Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stirred the political scene by openly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second terms.

The former governor made the declaration on Monday, while addressing a crowd of political stakeholders and supporters at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.

Fayose who had a PDP cap on, declared, “I hereby endorse publicly, without reservation, President Bola Tinubu for a second term. I also endorse our governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term.”

Fayose explained that his endorsement was based on performance, not party affiliation.

“I am not a member of this party (APC) and I will never be,” he said. “But let me tell you today, this gathering is unique because all the former governors and all that matters unanimously support you.”

His gesture drew mixed reactions, especially as it came during a time of growing speculation about shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He praised Governor Oyebanji’s efforts in sustaining peace and driving development across the state, and called on the people of Ekiti to reward effective leadership regardless of party lines.

“I want to commend everybody to try and make sure this election turns a reality,” he added.

Fayose also recognized the presence of former Governor Segun Oni and congratulated recent defectors to the APC, acknowledging their decision while humorously noting that he was not ready to join them just yet.
