Ondo state Governor Aiyedatiwa and All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders have endorsed President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The endorsement was made on Friday, during a meeting of the APC Leaders Caucus held at the Government House in Akure.
Speaking at the gathering, Governor Aiyedatiwa called for unity within the party, urging all support groups to align with the central structure.
“Our strength lies in our unity, and all of us as leaders of the APC in the state must come together to build on the foundation already laid,” he said.
He added, “Because we are heading towards general elections, it is expected that various support groups will spring up.
“However, all groups must be under the leadership of the central party structure, which has the State Working Committee and the State Caucus as core components.”
Aiyedatiwa emphasised that all political focus in Ondo should now be on ensuring Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“We don’t have any pending governorship election here in Ondo State.
“Therefore, we have to focus all our efforts on mobilising grassroots votes for the re-election of the President in 2027,” he declared.
“It is granted that the President will win the election. However, for us in the South West and Ondo State, the victory must be overwhelming.”
Also speaking at the meeting, Hon. Derin Adesida said, “This is a constitutional gathering to chart a clear direction for the APC in Ondo State.”
Former Ambassador to Togo, Sola Iji, praised the governor for his leadership, saying, “This is the type of political coordination our party needs.”
