Governor Soludo has condemned one-term pledges, saying those behind them need psychiatric evaluation.

Speaking on Saturday at a rally in Anambra South, Soludo dismissed the one-term pledge as unreasonable and deceptive.

“How can anybody with a functioning brain say that? Do you think you’re speaking to fools?” Soludo asked supporters.

He continued: “You come to people and say you will do only one term.

“Any politician who says that must be sent to a psychiatric home because the person must have some mental problem.”

Soludo stressed the Constitution permits two four-year terms and questioned proposals to alter it without due process.

“The constitution is clear two terms, so why are they promising one term? To gain cheap political advantage? That’s deceptive, our people are wiser now,” he added.

Though he named no one, Soludo’s remarks seem directed at politicians pushing a one-term agenda.

He argued that such pledges are a political gimmick aimed at swaying uninformed voters.

“Leadership is not about empty promises. It’s about performance, structure, and continuity.

“Four years is barely enough to lay foundations, let alone transform lives,” Soludo stressed.

He urged voters to reject what he called “emotional promises” and instead back candidates with realistic plans and verifiable track records.
