Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Gift Super Falcons' Oluwatosin Demehin ₦30 Million, Apartment

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has rewarded Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin with a gift of ₦30 million and a fully furnished apartment in Akure.

This comes on the heels of her outstanding performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where Nigeria clinched the title spectacularly.

Governor Aiyedatiwa received Demehin at the Ondo State Government House on Monday, showering praise on the Akure-born star who played every minute of Nigeria’s six matches at the tournament. Her consistent displays at the heart of the defence were pivotal in the Falcons’ unbeaten run to the title.

Demehin, who plies her trade with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, made headlines when she scored her maiden international goal during Nigeria’s emphatic 5-0 quarter-final demolition of Zambia’s Copper Queens.

That goal marked a special milestone for the 22-year-old, who rose through the ranks from the Falconets to become a mainstay in the senior national team.

“Oluwatosin has made Ondo State proud on the continental stage,” Aiyedatiwa said. “Her discipline, dedication, and talent deserve not just praise but support that inspires the next generation.”

The governor didn’t stop with Demehin. Two other indigenes who were part of Nigeria’s WAFCON-winning contingent, team media officer Mary Akinsola and team secretary Mary Oduboku, were also honoured. Each received a cash reward of ₦15 million in recognition of their contributions behind the scenes.
