Former Super Eagles striker and current Enyimba FC forward Brown Ideye has publicly criticized the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants over unpaid match bonuses and poor player welfare from the just-concluded 2024/2025 season.

Taking to social media platform X, Ideye expressed frustration over the club’s failure to pay bonuses owed to him and other players, despite the season officially ending in May.

“Because I get money, I should not ask for the one I worked for? Please pay me and the players last season’s match bonuses. @EnyimbaFC, the season ended in May, till now nothing. Next season will start next month,” Ideye posted.

In a follow-up statement, the veteran attacker also accused the club of offering inadequate daily meal allowances, claiming that players were given just N7,000 per day throughout the campaign—a claim Enyimba FC has yet to publicly respond to.

The accusations have sparked renewed concerns about player welfare and financial transparency in Nigerian domestic football, especially as clubs gear up for the upcoming NPFL season.
