The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the successful registration of 168,187 new voters in Anambra State following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The update was disclosed on Friday, in a statement by Mr. Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), in Awka.
Olumekun noted that the figure is the highest recorded in the state within a two-week period since the introduction of CVR in 2017.
“The turnout reflected the growing interest of citizens in the electoral process ahead of the Nov. 8 off-cycle governorship election in Anambra State,” he said.
The CVR, initially scheduled to end on July 17, was extended to July 20, 2025, in response to appeals from stakeholders.
