President of ECK Foundation, a nongovernmental organization, Dr. Emeka Kalu has declared that the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar possesses the competence to take the country out of its present economic and security challenges.
Kalu, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, cited the former vice president’s experience and tenacity as key factors that made him a strong candidate to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He also solicited the support of the South-East for Atiku, noting that this would pave the way for the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi to become president in the future to give the Igbo community a say in Nigeria’s power dynamics.
Kalu insisted that Atiku’s tenure as Vice President showcased his ability to drive economic liberalisation, trade investments, and job creation.
Also, he emphasised that the former presidential candidate had the political ability to foster relationships across Nigeria’s diverse regions as an ideal candidate to unify the country.
“An Atiku presidency will lead to significant advancements in investment, infrastructure, security and will ultimately revitalise Nigeria’s crumbling economy.
“Also, Atiku is a detribalised Nigerian who can bring people together. Regrettably, ethnic tensions have plagued Nigeria’s political landscape for a long time,” Kalu said.
Besides, Kalu emphasised the importance of unity among opposition parties, warning that any coalition without a unified purpose would be ineffective.
