Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, popularly known as RudeBoy of Psquare, has issued a warning to emerging artistes over the growing trend of smoking in their visual content.
In a post shared via his Instagram story on Saturday, the singer expressed concern about the image young musicians are projecting, particularly in short music videos or visualizers.
He questioned why many of them feel the need to light up as soon as the camera starts rolling.

Sharing his thoughts in Pidgin, RudeBoy wrote: “Dear new acts, abeg who tell una say whenever una de shoot visualizer video, say una must de smoke igbo for camera. 20 sec music never start you still de light up… well na your choice ohh but make sure you de eat well, at least de chop better food.. don’t tell me is swag or trying to look fly.”
He went on to point out the irony of young artistes spending large sums on smoking while struggling to afford proper meals.
“You’re looking sick. You de smoke around 50k de battle indomie of 1k without egg,” he added.
RudeBoy ended his post with a subtle nod to the pressure many rising stars face in the industry, writing simply, “Under pressure…”
