Veteran Nigerian singer, Alexander Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has stated that the music industry is under the influence of the devil.
He made the controversial claim during a recent appearance on The Nancy Isime Show, posted on X on Saturday, where he discussed the spiritual side of the entertainment business.
According to him, many artists turn to smoking and other behaviours because of the industry’s dark spiritual influence.
“The devil controls music. The devil is the choirmaster. That’s why we smoke and do all the things we do,” he said.
9ice warned up-and-coming artists to be spiritually aware of the environment they are entering.
“Music generally is controlled by the devil. If you’re coming to this industry, understand where you’re coming to,” he said.
He added: “I’m not lying to you. He [the devil] is the most powerful angel. I’m speaking based on knowledge and what I’ve experienced spiritually.”
