The Yobe State Government has announced plans to hold a grand ceremony to celebrate two students, Nafisa Abdullah, 17, and Rukayya Muhammad Fema, 15, for their outstanding achievements at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom. 


Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the event to honor the duo, who were named the world’s best in English language skills and overall debate, respectively, bringing global recognition to Yobe State and Nigeria.


Nafisa Abdullah, a senior secondary school student, clinched the top spot in English language skills, showcasing exceptional proficiency, while Rukayya Muhammad Fema, a junior secondary student, excelled in the debate category, demonstrating remarkable eloquence and critical thinking. 


Their victories at the prestigious international competition, held in July 2025, have been hailed as a testament to the educational reforms and investments in Yobe State.


Governor Buni, in a statement on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments, noting that their success highlights the potential of Yobe’s youth. 


“Nafisa and Rukayya have made us proud on the global stage. This ceremony will celebrate their hard work and inspire other students to strive for excellence,” he said. 


The event, to be held in Damaturu, will include awards, scholarships, and recognition for the students, their schools, and their mentors.


The TeenEagle Global Finals, a renowned platform for young talents, saw participants from over 30 countries compete in various academic and creative categories.
