Gideon Okeke accuses Jim Iyke of attempting to take his life

Popular Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has made a surprise public apology and claimed that he was once the victim of a suicide attempt by fellow actor Jim Iyke.

The former Tinsel star talked about a difficult time in his life with Iyke in a very personal post on his Instagram page. He said there was a time he thought he wouldn’t make it through another day.

“I want to apologise to anybody who cares remotely about me or my work… To my friends, fans, and lovers of Gideon, if I still have any left,” he began, visibly not cheerful.

The actor admitted that his current actions were “completely out of character,” particularly in light of the fresh attention his online outbursts against Jim Iyke received after Iyke’s movie Sin was made available on Prime Video.

“There was a night I thought I would die. That night had Jim Iyke written all over it,” Gideon wrote. “I was young, brash, and spoke recklessly. But nothing I said warranted that kind of heat.”

Gideon maintained his stance in spite of the apologies, citing a gravely unsettling accusation that gives the disagreement a far darker hue.

He claims that during an on-set confrontation that went wrong on January 18, 2024, Jim Iyke allegedly tried to hurt him with a gun.

“Without being adamant, I respectfully maintain that an obituary wouldn’t have been fair on me either if Jim Iyke had succeeded in using that gun he wanted to use on the 18th of January,” he stated.

Gideon bemoaned the ongoing quiet and seeming apathy of other people who were supposedly present during the incident, but he declined to name them.

“Nobody would have been there to defend my cause, because the people who were present till today have feigned ignorance. I’m not calling their names… but I felt, Wow, this is the life”, he said.
